ONLINE SERVICE. REAL PEOPLE.

Online Bail Bonds From a Company You Can Trust

Online bail should make a hard night easier, not add a stranger on a website to your list of worries. Bail Hotline is a family-owned bail bond company with 41 offices in California and Idaho and more than two decades of experience. When you start online, you are working with the same licensed bail bondsmen, managers and posting agents who staff those offices. Call (888) 958-1228 any time, day or night.

We can begin with whatever you know, help you find the person and the bail amount, explain what the bond will cost in dollars, and handle the paperwork electronically so the people helping do not have to be in the same place.

Family-owned since 2004

Bail Hotline was founded in San Bernardino in 2004 by the McGuire brothers and is still owned and led by the same family. Based on company records, we conservatively estimate that Bail Hotline has helped with more than 500,000 individual cases since 2004. Every one of those cases was a family, a group of friends, or a coworker trying to help someone come home. Read our company history.

A real team behind the online process

Online bail at Bail Hotline is not a checkout page. A licensed bail bondsman reviews your situation, explains each document and each person's role, and stays available by phone while the bond moves forward. Our offices have dedicated 24/7 posting agents, separate from the agents who help families with applications, so the bond can be taken to the jail or court when it is ready.

Free information before you decide

You do not need a booking number, a completed inmate search, or money in hand before asking for help. A name is enough to start. We can help look for available inmate information, explain the reported bail amount, and point you to the right court or record resource. This help is free, with no obligation to purchase a bond.

One connected network, wherever the person is held

Our 41 offices work as one network, and nearly every office sits close to the jail it serves. When a person is held in one county and the family is in another, the online team coordinates the paperwork while the office nearest the jail handles the local posting work.

Help in English and Spanish

Call the same number for bail bonds en español. If the first person who answers does not speak Spanish, we connect you with a Spanish-speaking bail bondsman so you can ask questions and understand every answer.

Fees explained clearly, backed by our refund guarantee

If we charge a fee that was not clearly explained at signing, we guarantee a refund of that fee. Our explanation includes the premium, any other applicable charges, and potential future fees such as recovery expenses, so nothing about the bond comes as a surprise later.

How Online Bail Works, Step by Step

Call (888) 958-1228 or send the free form at the top of this page as soon as you need help. You do not have to find the person online, obtain a booking number, or understand the bail amount first. If you do not have the name yet, tell us what you know about the arrest.

Once the information supports a bond, our bail bondsmen coordinate the work in a clear sequence:

  1. Identify the correct person and case. We gather the available booking, case, bail and hold information, and confirm which jail is holding the person.
  2. Review the application and the people helping. We discuss the defendant, any proposed cosigners and anyone contributing money, and what each person can handle remotely.
  3. Explain the cost and payment options. You get the full premium, any rebate, the starting payment and the remaining payments in dollars, before anyone signs.
  4. Complete the documents electronically. Each participant reviews and signs the documents that apply to them, from wherever they are.
  5. Make the approved starting payment. Through the Bail Hotline app, a payment link, by phone, or at any office.
  6. Post the bond. A licensed Bail Hotline bail agent presents the authorized bond to the jail or court that holds the person.
  7. Follow the release. Posting, acceptance and the jail's final release are separate updates. We tell you which stage has been reached.

Online bail is still a real bail bond

Online bail changes how you and your family work with us, not what a bail bond is. The bond is written by a licensed bail agent and backed by a surety company, and it has to be presented to the jail or court that holds the person. The paperwork, signatures and payment arrangements happen by phone and online; the posting itself is done in person by our licensed agents, which is why our offices are located near the jails they serve.

That also means the same protections apply. The agreements you sign online are the same agreements you would sign at a counter, and a bail bondsman explains them the same way.

How fast can online bail work?

Bail Hotline begins working as soon as the required information is available. Remote paperwork, connected offices, experienced agents, and in-house systems are designed to reduce avoidable delays for your family.

Actual timing depends on complete information, approved signers, underwriting, surety authorization, signed documents, payment arrangements, travel to the jail, and bond delivery. Once the bond is accepted, the jail controls release timing, and release can take longer when the jail is busy or when there is another case or hold. We start promptly on the work within our control and tell you what is still pending, so you have a real update instead of an unexplained wait.

When the person has not been booked yet

A person usually has to finish booking before a bail amount is available and a bond can be posted. You can still call before booking is complete. We can start gathering information and prepare the application so the family is ready when the bail amount appears.

Online bail for a warrant, before turning yourself in

If you or someone you know has an arrest warrant or a bench warrant, call before going to the police station or the court. In many cases we can review the warrant, explain the bail amount, and prepare the bond paperwork online in advance, then walk you through turning yourself in on the warrant so your family knows what to expect. An attorney advises on the legal case; we handle the bail.

What Happens Online and What Happens at the Jail

Your part of the bail process can almost always be handled by phone and online. The steps that happen in person are handled by our licensed agents, the jail and the court.

Plan the release pickup around confirmed information

The jail decides when and where a person walks out. Before driving to pick someone up, confirm the current facility and ask us which stage the bond has reached. Posting, acceptance and the jail's final release are separate updates, and a person can be moved between facilities while the paperwork is in progress.

Online bail does not decide how someone attends court

Completing bail paperwork online does not mean the defendant can appear in court remotely. Criminal hearings are generally held in person, and the court or the defense attorney confirms what is required for each hearing. Keep the current court notice with the case number, hearing time, courthouse and department, and ask us if anything on it is unclear.

Helping from another city, county or state

Online bail is built for families who are spread out. One relative may be near the jail, another may be helping with a payment from another county, and a possible cosigner may live in another state. Tell us where everyone is and what each person can handle, and our connected offices coordinate the paperwork and the local posting around the actual case.

A person who only wants to help with one payment should say so. That is a different role from signing as a cosigner, and we explain the difference before anyone signs.

If the person is in immigration detention

If the detention information points to ICE immigration custody, ask us to connect you with Liberty Immigration Bonds, or call Liberty directly at (888) 800-8896. Liberty and Bail Hotline share the same parent company, DMCG, Inc., and are run by the same family. Liberty specializes in immigration detention bonds and helps families in English and Spanish.

What to Have Ready and How to Send Documents

Call even if the information is incomplete. A name is enough to begin, and a bail bondsman will tell you exactly which documents are needed for your bond.

Information that helps us move faster

  • The person's full name and spelling, plus date of birth or approximate age.
  • When and where the arrest happened, including the city and county.
  • The arresting agency, if you know it.
  • A booking number, court case number or warrant number, if you have one.
  • The jail or facility named by an official record or agency.
  • Any reported bail amount, next court date, separate case or hold.
  • Who is helping, where each person is, and who may cosign or contribute.

If several relatives are helping, keep one shared set of confirmed updates and note who provided each answer. That keeps the next conversation clear and avoids relying on an old location or amount.

Sending documents safely

The free form at the top of this page asks only for identifying and contact information, so we can start helping. When your bond needs documents, your bail bondsman will tell you which ones and confirm how to send them. For documents the online team requests by email, use submissions@bailhotline.net.

Bank statements, tax records and other sensitive financial records belong in the channel your bail bondsman confirms for your transaction, not a general inquiry message. Never send a card number by email or through an inquiry form. Card payments are taken through a confirmed payment link, the app, by phone with Financial Services, or at an office.

Make sure you are talking with Bail Hotline

If you receive an unexpected call, text or payment link that claims to be from Bail Hotline, verify it before paying. Call our main line at (888) 958-1228 or Financial Services at (951) 224-8573, or use the request option on our official Payments page. Be careful with anyone who demands immediate payment to clear a warrant or release a person.

Online Bail Costs, Payments and Payment Plans

We offer payment plans on every approved bond. In California, our bail bondsmen can review an Instant Rebate, a low starting payment and a payment plan together. Qualified clients with court-set bail of $25,000 or less may begin with $500 or less down, and some qualify for a $0 to 1 percent initial payment.

An arrest is an expense most families never planned for. You do not need perfect credit, the full premium in hand, or every answer about the case before calling. Tell us what your household can manage, when income arrives, and whether anyone else can help.

Bail amount, premium and starting payment are different numbers

The court sets the bail amount. The premium is the price of the bail bond service. The starting payment is what you pay at the beginning of the plan. Your bail bondsman explains all three in dollars before you sign.

Swipe or scroll sideways to see all columns. Keyboard: focus the table and use the Left and Right Arrow keys.

Premium example using $25,000 court-set bail in California
AmountWhat it meansExample
Court-set bailThe amount of the bond the court requires$25,000
Premium before any approved rebateThe price of the bail bond service at a 10% rate$2,500
Premium with an approved two-point rebateThe reduced total premium, if an 8% rate is approved$2,000
Approved starting paymentThe amount paid at the beginning of the plan$500
Remaining premiumWhat remains to be paid under the plan$1,500

The California Department of Insurance's bail guidance identifies 10% as the most common premium and confirms that rebating is permitted.

A California Instant Rebate can reduce your total premium

Qualifying California transactions may receive an Instant Rebate of 1 to 3 percentage points from an applicable 10% premium, producing an approved rate of 9%, 8% or 7%. Tell us if you or a possible cosigner is a homeowner, has military service or a qualifying military-family relationship, is a student, a union member, a government or city or state employee, receives fixed-income assistance, or is represented by a private attorney. Documentation, underwriting and final surety approval determine the rebate. See our 8% bail bond premium programs.

Payment plans without financing interest in California

We do not charge financing interest on California payment plans, and most approved Bail Hotline bonds are written without a home, vehicle or other property as collateral. Several people can share the starting payment or an installment, and the defendant can take over payments after release. If an installment will be difficult, call Financial Services at (951) 224-8573 before the due date so we can work on it together.

Bail Hotline does not add an annual or renewal premium because the same bond remains active. The premium on a bond is charged once.

Online bail for an arrest in Idaho

Our Boise, Caldwell and Twin Falls offices serve Idaho, and the online process works the same way. Idaho bonds carry their own premium and payment terms, and the California rebate program and California payment-plan terms above apply to California bonds. Your bail bondsman explains the Idaho terms for your bond in dollars.

Ways to make a payment

Requesting a payment link is not paying. The online request and the payment email ask Financial Services for a link; your payment is completed afterward, on the payment page or in the app.

Swipe or scroll sideways to see all columns. Keyboard: focus the table and use the Left and Right Arrow keys.

Request a payment link onlineUse the request option on our official Payments page. Financial Services locates the transaction and sends the correct link. The request form itself does not take payment.
Request a link by emailEmail clientpayments@bailhotline.net with the defendant's and payer's names. A representative reviews the request before issuing a link.

Pay at any Bail Hotline officeOffices accept major credit and debit cards, cash, and money orders. You can pay at an office other than the one that wrote the bond. Call ahead before traveling.

Have the payer's name, the defendant's name and date of birth, and the transaction ID if you have it. Keep the receipt or confirmation so a payment can be traced. Payment link requests are handled during business hours; the main line at (888) 958-1228 is open 24/7 for bail help.

Cosigning a Bail Bond Online

A cosigner can review and sign the bail bond agreements electronically, from another city or another state. We explain the commitment clearly before anyone signs and give each person time to ask questions.

What a cosigner agrees to

A cosigner, also called an indemnitor, makes a real commitment. Depending on the documents, that can include payment responsibilities, obligations connected with the defendant's required court appearances, and reimbursement of permitted expenses if the agreement is breached. The understanding that someone else plans to pay does not cancel the cosigner's signed responsibilities.

A cosigner can help the bond qualify for better terms

A qualified cosigner may help the bond qualify for a rebate, a lower starting payment, or a more manageable payment plan. Several approved signers can support an application together when one person could not qualify alone. Low income or bad credit does not automatically rule anyone out; we review the application as a whole.

Contributing money without cosigning

Someone can help pay without becoming a cosigner. Tell us whether a person wants to make one payment, share installments, or support the application as a signer, and we will explain the role and any documents needed.

After Release: Check-Ins, Payments and Court Dates

Online help does not end when the person walks out of jail. Clients use the Bail Hotline app for remote check-ins, payments, available case information and automatic court-date reminders, and can call a real person any time.

Check-ins and reminders

Check-ins can be completed remotely in the app. For help with a check-in, call our Check-Ins Department at (909) 332-2906. Keep your contact information current so court-date reminders reach you.

If a court date is missed or a warrant appears

Call us and the defendant's attorney right away. Our approach is to communicate with the client, understand what happened, and work toward correcting the problem when the circumstances allow. California law provides ways for a forfeiture to be set aside and, in appropriate circumstances, for the same bond to be reinstated (California Penal Code section 1305). The attorney handles legal advice and the court decides the warrant; calling early gives everyone the chance to act before avoidable consequences grow.

Online Bail Questions

Can I bail someone out completely online?

Your part of the process can usually be completed by phone and online: questions, the application, document review, signatures and payment arrangements. The bond itself is posted in person by a licensed Bail Hotline bail agent at the jail or court, and the jail handles the release. You do not have to go to the jail or to our office for that to happen.

How much does an online bail bond cost?

The price of a bail bond is the premium on the approved bond. In California, 10% of the bail amount is the most common premium, and our Instant Rebate program can lower it to 9%, 8% or 7% for qualifying transactions. Your bail bondsman explains the premium, any rebate, the starting payment and any other applicable charges in dollars before you sign.

Can the cosigner live in another city or state?

Yes. Family members, signers, the defendant, the jail and the Bail Hotline office do not have to be in the same city for the process to begin. Approval depends on the application as a whole, and we explain what each signer needs to provide.

Can you help me find out where someone is being held?

Yes, and it is free. Start with the person's full name and whatever you know about the arrest. We help look for available inmate information, the reported bail amount and the next court date, with no obligation to purchase a bond.

Which jails and counties does online bail cover?

We help with arrests throughout California and Idaho. Our 41 offices, listed below, cover the counties where they are located, and our connected network can coordinate a bond when a person is held elsewhere in either state. Call and tell us where the person is being held.

Is it safe to start bail online?

Start with our main line at (888) 958-1228 or the form on this page, and only send documents through the channel your bail bondsman confirms. Payments go through a confirmed payment link, the app, Financial Services by phone, or an office. We never need a card number by email.

Can I do online bail in Spanish?

Yes. Call (888) 958-1228 and ask for Spanish. We connect you with a Spanish-speaking Bail Hotline bail bondsman for the whole process. Para ayuda en español, llame al mismo número.
